Gianluca has been so trying on our patience this evening. He just wouldn’t stop making noise, getting in the way, throwing things, demanding attention all the time. Well of course it’s not his fault. He has to find an outlet for his energy. His batteries have now wound down at last, and he’s approaching bedtime with a pacifier, while quietly watching a Barney DVD. On the occasion of this evening’s bedlam, I’ve decided to place my favourite picture of him here. This was taken in January last winter, when the two of us were out for a walk at the Bois de la Cambre, the park across the road from where we had our rented apartment in Ixelles, Brussels. It’s a lovely park, and whenever I can I still head there during my training runs. He was walking towards me when I took this picture. He looks SO cuddly here, and his attire as well as the background have got "winter" written all over them.
